In the summer of 2012 Ms. Runyan was working as a nanny and camp counselor in Washington State when she was offered a 4th grade teaching position at Taylor Hicks Elementary School. She excitedly accepted, drove the 1,500 miles, and started work the next day! She is continually blessed by the hospitality of the Prescott community and is happy to call AZ her home.
While her family is originally from WA, Ms. Runyan was born and raised in the Coachella Valley of Southern California where summer temperatures sometimes reach as high as 120 degrees! She is the youngest of five children and Auntie to 10 amazing nieces and nephews.
Ms. Runyan has a background in visual and performing arts and loves Whole Brain Teaching. So, don't be surprised to see lots of movement or hear some funny accents coming from her classroom. She received her Multiple Subject teaching credential from California State University San Bernardino and will soon be pursuing a Masters of Education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program.
